The Cadillac Footliters has unveiled the plans for the future community theatre building. The “Phoenix Project plans include an Art Deco style two-story structure that will be located next to the Blue Heron Café in downtown Cadillac. The projected cost for this project is 1.6 million dollars.
The new venue would provide additional entertainment as well as enhance culture and commerce in the downtown Cadillac area.
This community theatre group is one of the longest running organizations of its kind. Established in 1964, the Cadillac Footliters has been performing for over 40 years. The original home of this performing arts group was acquired in 1965. Shortly after the building mortgage was paid off tragedy struck and the building was completely destroyed by fire in 1990. The tenacious actors continued to provide seasons of live entertainment despite this set back. Countless businesses, Cadillac Area Council for the Arts, churches, and individuals lent their support to keep the theatre running. The proposed building, appropriately named, “The Phoenix Project”, embodies the spirit of our unique community.
All proceeds from fundraising projects, cash donations and theatre performances will be allocated to the building project. If you would like to support the Phoenix Project call the Footliters at 231.775.7336.
